DESTIN
Destin is widely known as The World's Luckiest Fishing Village. That is minimizing what Destin is. It started as a fishing
village along the Gulf Coast, but today is better known for its long stretches of beach and beautiful sunshine. It's a popular
haven for coastal boaters, with over a hundred restaurants, and is a common destination for service members from nearby Eglin Air
Force Base and Pensacola NAS looking for a great night out.
DEEP WATER FISHING AND OTHER STUFF
At Destin, the 100-fathom mark for deep-water fishing is closer to the shore than at any other point along the Gulf Coast,
making it an ideal starting point for sport fishermen seeking out the deep-water monsters. For vacationers who don't fish, diving
and snorkeling are both common pastimes in the area, and you can always find canoeing, fine dining, and beach activities. For the
kids or excitement lovers, the Big Kahunas Water Park is located close by.
WHERE TO STAY IN DESTIN
Like much of the northern Gulf Coast, Destin is seeing a boom in vacation condominiums and homes. You can find a beautiful
vacation home on the beach here in Destin, or something a little cheaper further inland. But even the most expensive digs in
Destin are reasonable compared to beach vacations almost anywhere else.
